There was a moderate size crowd to see Whitehorse at the Calgary Stampede Coca-Cola Stage. Stampede goers were treated to a solid lineup from the spirited openers The Harpoonist & The Axe Murder, who were followed by seasoned “alt-country” Sadies, who’s energy emanated from the stage, as the guitars and fast tempo gripped the crowd. Finally Whitehorse the husband and wife duo Luke Doucet and Mellisa McLelland took the stage. The Juno award winners chemistry is undeniable, and as they had just release their latest album this month “Panther in the Dollhouse” it was the perfect time to take in the group (Sadly this absent minded writer, forgot to grab a vinyl copy on his was out). The guitars were captivating as Doucet would often step away from his microphone and capture the audiences attention with the sounds from his Gretsch. In my opinion the way a Gretsch should sound. A solid performance setlist as follows:

Whitehorse Setlist:
Baby What’s Wrong
Sweet Disaster
Night Hawks
Boys Like You
Manitoba Death Star
Die Alone
